by Staff Writer
Cookies and Cream Protein Donut

PROTEIN AND COLLAGEN COOKIES AND CREAM DONUTS

There's nothing better than the classic cookies and cream combo...or so you thought. Add in some birthday cake protein powder and collagen peptides and these donuts will be your new go to combo.

If you're an Oreo lover, these donuts are right up your alley.

Simple and delicious, whip these babies up and take em to your next gym gathering.

INGREDIENTS

DONUT BATTER

  • 1 heaping scoop birthday cake protein powder
  • 2 scoops collagen peptides
  • 1/2 cup Coconut Flour
  • 1/2 cup Almond Flour
  • 1 Large Egg
  • 9 Oreos
  • 1 tsp. Baking Powder
  • 3/4 cup water

FROSTING

  • 1 heaping scoop birthday cake protein powder
  • 1 cup Low-Fat Oat Milk
  • 3 Oreos (Presentation)

DIRECTIONS

FROSTING

  1. In a small saucepan, heat 1 cup of oat milk on medium heat.
  2. Add 1 heaping scoop of birthday cake protein powder to heated oat milk.
  3. Whisk briskly for 3-5 minutes until all ingredients are combined well.
  4. Transfer icing to separate bowl and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

*If you prefer a thicker frosting, add 2 heaping scoops of birthday cake protein powder to 1 cup of oat milk.

DONUT BATTER

  1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Add 9 Oreos to your food processor and process until all cookies are finely crushed. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the protein powder, collagen peptides, coconut flour, almond flour, crushed Oreos, and baking powder.
  4. In a small mixing bowl, beat egg and water.
  5. Add wet ingredients to your large mixing bowl. Fold ingredients together and combine well, but do not over mix.
  6. Add batter to silicone donut trays and bake for 20 minutes.
  7. Let donuts completely cool.
  8. After cooling, dip each donut in the previously made frosting.
  9. Optional: Top off frosting with slightly crushed Oreos for presentation.

*Check the donuts at the 20 minute mark by poking a toothpick through the center of each donut. If the toothpick pulls out clean, remove from oven and let cool. If the toothpick pulls out with batter, continue baking in 5 minute increments.
